Choosing the right wedding dress
Where do I begin to look?
You many want to start looking at pictures in magazine or on the internet. Look at recently celebrity weddings to find out the latest trends and see what could take your fancy. It will almost certainly be the most amazing and expensive dress you are likely to wear, so you need to put a lot of time and thought in this decision. Try and be adventuress – you will be suprised at what could suit you!
When I have an idea of what I want, where do I go?
Well, that depends on you. Some girls do like to see what they’re getting, try it on and have an idea what it’s going to be like. Others like to know that it will fit perfectly and get that feeling that the wedding dress they have on is ‘the one.’ However some girls can’t find the exact wedding dress or they have found the dress but want it slightly altered – for example from having a zip back to a corset back.
Just remember that your perfect dress is usually found in your own mind and often not often what you think you’ll find!
How much should I spend?
This is all dependent on you and what your budget is. Once you’ve decided how much you’re happy to spend, you’ll know where to start looking – whether online, in a bridal shop or by a bespoke designer. Always remember to find out what is included in the price And don’t forget to find out what is included in the price.
How do I know what suits me?
What do you like about your figure and what do you want to show off? Don’t go for a tight fishtail dress showing off your hips this is not your best asset. Work with what you have and what you feel happy showing off! Also think about what your husband to be loves about you – after all the dress is ultimatly for him! This should give you a starting point to go and try a dress on that highlights your best attributes.
No matter what shape or size you are, there will be the perfect dress out there for you.
When are you getting married?
Consider what time of year you are looking or have booked to get married. This will help with your decision as you want to be comfortable on your wedding day and not be too hot or too cold.
Where is your venue?
Consider your venue. You may be looking at getting married on the beach, or have a traditional church wedding. If you want a large ball gown dress or a long train – do you have enough room at the venue?
Take another look at your venue and imagine you in your wedding dress on the day. Will you be comfortable?
Have an open mind
Unless you wear extravagant frocks frequently, you probably wont know which style or shape suits you best. You would be suprised at what looks good on, so dont dismiss a style because its not what you ‘think’ would suit you. Allow yourself plenty of time to look at dresses and try different styles.Try and take someone with you, who can give you honest and open advice.
