Birdcage Veils – A new wedding trend?
I always had a dream that my wedding would be the perfect day. And it was. But it wasn’t without stresses and strains along the way, like most brides experience!
I had a very clear idea in mind. I wanted a modern and unique wedding. I didn’t want a wedding dress that someone I knew would wear; I didn’t want the same veil, the same tiara or the same colour scheme that someone else would choose. I wanted to stand out and have my own style stamped throughout my wedding. That was my aim throughout my planning and implementation.
Little did I know that organising a wedding was a huge deal and that trying to find everything to match my colour scheme was a task and a half! I literally spent hours looking on the Internet and walking around shops to match exactly what I had in my mind. Maybe I was just very particular, but I struggled with sourcing items for my wedding and I ended up having many of my items bespoke made, as per my requirement.
For example, I had my dress specially made for me, I made all of my invitations, name cards, reply cards, order of service. I wanted it all to match. I also really wanted something different to match my dress. I didn’t want a traditional veil as it didn’t suit my dress, my personal style and I didn’t really like the feel of the veil over my shoulders. I had seen pictures of the birdcage veil in magazines and in films, but didn’t really know where or how to go about getting one. I spent hours looking for a company that had the style of veil I wanted, to no avail.
I felt very frustrated and deflated at this point. Why was it so hard to find such a simple item? So I decided I would try and make the birdcage veil myself. I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but I have always been a creative person and to be honest, I had to try something!
Trying to make the veil was fiddly and time consuming, but I did a pretty good job of pulling it off. I think I shocked a few people on the day! Many people had not seen the birdcage style veil before and I think people were quietly surprised.
In my opinion birdcage veils are becoming more popular and the idea of a traditional wedding veil seems to be a thing of the past. In this era, brides are looking for the next new trend, a modern and unique twist to their wedding day and want to make it personal and distinctive to their personality and style. I understand we still have brides who like traditional weddings, with a customary wedding veil, but think outside the box. A birdcage veil can take so many different forms and is a simple and elegant look.
Following on from the wedding, I have now set up a bridal shop business. This online shop is designed for brides to come and find everything they want to fit around their theme. And it they cannot find what they want then I will source it for them.
I know how frustrating and time consuming it is planning your wedding. Don’t let it be a burden and struggle with it. Browse my site and if you have any questions or cannot find what you are looking for, contact me and I will do the hard work for you.
